Glacial Features around Cadair Idris (Snowdonia)

Spot the ribbon lake and alluvial fan!
Live Local is Microsoft's web-based mapping application. The recent upgrade has resulted in very high quality aerial photograph coverage for most of the UK. If you click on the aerial photo above, you will link to a Live Local 'collection' of glacial features in Snowdonia put together by Noel Jenkins, a Geography teacher friend of mine in Somerset.

There are 13 glacial features identified by numbered push pins. Scroll down the panel on the left to find them all then either click on their titles or zoom in on the map to get close-up! Clicking on the compass arrows or dragging the map while holding the left mouse button down allows you to navigate around the area.

Ideally you should now relate the aerial views to an OS map of the area. You can do that by using the OS Get-a-map service. Click on the 'I want to get a map' button and put the Grid Reference SH715115 into the search box.

P.S. Those of you who have opted for the November fieldtrip to the Dales should get their forms back to me as soon as possible!
