Here is the weather map (courtesy of The Met Office) for this Saturday at 00.00. Hopefully you can remember enough from your studies of weather last year to know what that approaching occluded front is going to mean for those of us doing fieldwork in the Dales this weekend. If we are lucky, it will cross Yorkshire during the night leaving showers in its wake by morning. If we are unlucky and it is slow moving, it will be a very wet morning. On Saturday morning we will be walking (whatever the weather) from Malham via the Cove and Watlowes valley up to Malham tarn. Rain will not stop play so if you are not properly waterproofed, you will get wet! And then you will get wet again in the afternoon when we go to Gordale scar and in the late afternoon when we climb up to the Norber erratics. You have been warned! Please bring sensible outdoor gear - waterproofs, windproofs, hats, gloves and boots.
