While you've been away, I've been putting my time to good use. Apart from marking all your scripts, I've been honing my fieldsketching techniques.

Impressive or what?! Hopefully you instantly recognised Man o'War Cove on the Jurassic Coast and all my sketch needs now are a few labels which you could add if you copy the sketch and paste it into Word, for example. OK... confession time. I didn't draw it. Mrs V hasn't suddenly become an artist. What I did was to follow a link from another of my virtual colleagues, Alan Parkinson, who is Head of Geography in a school in King's Lynn in Norfolk. He writes another Geography blog -
Geography and all that Jazz - which is well worth reading. Today he posted about a piece of software called
Dumpr which, amomgst other things, lets you make sketches of any photos which you have uploaded to
Flickr . So I thought I'd have a go with one of my favourite views on the south coast of England.
Here is my original photo....
Now no one has an excuse for not being able to produce good fieldsketches!
